Hand Engraving

Hand Engraving is used to personalize jewelry, small antiques and treasured gifts.

Hand Engraving helps the engraver get a personal feel for what it is he is engraving. Hand Engraving requires a simple machine that holds the item being engraved and helps the engraver trace the lettering with a diamond point. Typically engravers use a hard tool called a diamond point to cut into the surface. The engraver must apply pressure by hand which then delivers a more artistic feel which turns what he is engraving into a piece of art. It requires a lot of patience and time by the engraver.

Hand engraving should not be rushed, if the engraver is rushed he is then more prone to make mistakes. Hand engraving also heavily relies on the engraver and the amount of experience he has. Usually only a master engraver will have the appropriate experience to appropriately control the hand engraving tool to ensure that very few if any flaws occur in the process. Hand engraving gives the item more of an authentic or antique feel.

The fonts are limited to each engraver. There are single, double, and triple line fonts. Single Line font gives a more modern and simple look to the item being engraved. Double and Triple line font gives a more classic look to what is being engraved.
